To serve ” “the dear neighbor without distinction” is the charism that guides the St. Cyril students to acts of service. Angel Projects are unique experiences that allow children to live according to the Gospel. St. Cyril’s students are provided an opportunity to help the less fortunate members of our society. Projects include pet adoptions, raising money for breast cancer awareness, collecting baby items. making cards for the military, connecting with senior citizens, recycling, and more. Previous outreach projects involved an annual trip to Skid Row before Christmas, beach clean ups and animal rescues.
Beginning in the 5th grade, St. Cyril students have the opportunity to become an Altar Server. Altar Servers are responsible for assisting the priest in a reverent and respectful manner during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Responsibilities include: preparation for the Mass, assisting during Mass and closure after Mass.
The Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi (Patron Saint of Angel on My Shoulder)
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.
